Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Vulnerability Tool Engineer in Reston, VA.

Vulnerability Tool Engineer Job Responsibilities:
As a key member of the solution team, the Vulnerability Tool Engineer will help implement and manage a state-of-the-art, cloud-based vulnerability management solution for numerous Federal Agencies. This hands-on position requires deep understanding of vulnerability management best practices and experience deploying vulnerability management in large, multi-tenant environments.

  • Partner with the Lead Vulnerability Tool Engineer to support all aspects of the design, implementation, and operation of the vulnerability management technologies for Federal Agencies.
  • Perform activities related to the on-boarding of Federal Agencies into the solution including preparatory meetings with Agencies, creating the Agency environment within the vulnerability tool, deploying and integrating vulnerability scanners, and configuring the automated scanning of the Agency's network.
  • Provide technical support of the vulnerability scanning systems including monitoring performance and availability of components, verifying that scans are executed consistently, and insuring the accuracy of data feeds
  • Provide guidance to the operations and management team in addressing vulnerability scanning issues with the Agencies. Serve as liaison between the tool vendors and the solution team to address and resolve scanning and deployment issues.
  • Work with the Lead Engineer to implement new application versions and functionality enhancements.
  • Review vendor support and Product Release documentation to identify potential issues or enhancements that may impact the overall solution.
  • Create and maintain application documentation, drawings, how-to guides and other deliverables for both tool management and end-user training.
  • Provide briefings to customers regarding the status of the technology and relevant findings observed in the Agency's scan results.

Vulnerability Tool Engineer Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen and capable of attaining DHS Suitability and Public Trust 6C
    Clearance or above
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise-wide vulnerability management in large, federated environments. Experience with Tripwire IP360 and/or Tenable SecurityCenter is a plus.

Vulnerability Tool Engineer Job Preferences:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016, Red Hat Linux, and VMware
  • Experience with FISMA, NIST, CIS and DISA STIG security standards
  • Knowledge of integrated security system architecture
  • Core competency in network design concepts
  • In-depth experience with IT security concepts, network security and systems monitoring practices/methodologies
  • Experience/knowledge of security-based software applications and tools
  • Experience presenting to senior management
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
