Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Senior Security Engineer in Washington, DC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recommend responses to identified network cyber incidents, analysis, containment, and eradication of malicious code
  • Perform optimization, tuning and configuration of SOC tools to enhance the ability to detect and respond to incidents
  • Write incident reports and document responses for future events and report up-channel as directed
  • Track incidents from cradle-to-grave
  • Collaborate within various business groups to analyze and evaluate reported privacy and security incidents to determine whether a loss of sensitive data, protected information, policy violation, and/or cyber or other threat to the enterprise has occurred
  • Lead, perform or review security incident investigations
  • Develop follow-up action plans to resolve reportable issues, and communicate with the other technologists to address security threats and incidents
  • Analyze and identify trends from security reportable issues
  • Define and create privacy and security reportable issues metrics and reports
  • Participate in other activities relating to security and privacy incident management
  • Apply understanding of FISMA, OMB regulations, and NIST standards and inform client leadership of cybersecurity best practices
  • Work collaboratively with internal client stakeholders by facilitating the assessment of systems and developing reports for client leadership
  • Lead team of security analysts in conducting security impact assessments for client change requests and inform the Change Control Board of identified risks
  • Improve security posture by conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments, studying architecture/platform, identifying integration issues, developing policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to security strategy and overall security posture by identifying security gaps; evaluate and implement enhancements

Job Requirements:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, related discipline or equivalent experience
  • GCIH, CEH or similar industry certification
  • 5-7 years of experience performing in Federal government IT environments
  • Experience in standing up SOC environments
  • Strong expertise of log and monitoring management systems, security event monitoring systems, network-based and host-based intrusion detection systems, firewall technologies, malware detection and enterprise-level antivirus solutions/systems, VPN technologies and encryptions standards
  • Experience identifying, responding to, and reporting cybersecurity incidents
  • Strong understanding of OMB and FISMA mandates surrounding Information Security
  • Strong understanding of Network, Platform and Application Layer Security implementations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP, GPEN or similar industry certification
  • Experience leading SOC teams
