Defense Point Security is currently seeking an Incident Response Analyst in Morrisville, NC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and analyzing network traffic, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), security events and logs
  • Prioritizing and differentiating between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms
  • Advising incident responders in the steps to take to investigate and resolve computer security incidents
  • Creating and tracking security investigations to resolution
  • Lead, perform or review security incident investigations
  • Composing security alert notifications and other communications
  • Staying up to date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures
  • Develop follow-up action plans to resolve reportable issues, and communicate with the other technologists to address security threats and incidents
  • Define and create privacy and security reportable issues metrics and reports
  • Participate in other activities relating to security and privacy incident management
  • Work collaboratively with internal client stakeholders by facilitating the assessment of systems and developing reports for client leadership
  • Lead team of security analysts in conducting security impact assessments for client change requests and inform the Change Control Board of identified risks
  • Improve security posture by conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments, studying architecture/platform, identifying integration issues, developing policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to security strategy and overall security posture by identifying security gaps, evaluate and implement enhancements

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Security
  • 8 years of related experience on a Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Computer Security Incident Response Center (CSIRC) or a Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Coordinate with threat operations and threat intelligence specialists to resolve high or critical severity level incidents
  • In depth knowledge of networking, malware analysis, intrusion analysis, infection vector identification and forensics
  • Have knowledge of regulatory compliance directives to include various NIST and DHS 4300A/B security controls and FISMA monitoring and reporting requirements
  • Experience with AntiVirus, Intrusion Detection Systems, Firewalls, Active Directory, Web Proxies, Vulnerability Assessment tools and other security tools found in large enterprise network environments along with experience working with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions is a plus
  • Familiarity with various network and host based security applications and tools, such as network and host assessment/scanning tools, network and host based intrusion detection systems, and other security software packages
  • Host based forensics and malware analysis experience
  • Proven ability to understand and present complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • One or more of the following certifications are required: CompTIA Security +, CPTE - Certified Penetration Testing Engineer,CEH - Certified Ethical Hacker, GCIH - (GIAC Certified Incident Handler), ECIH - (EC-Council Certified Incident Handler) CISA - Certified Information Systems Auditor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Digital Media Analysis (DMA) and prior computer forensics experience strongly desired, but not required
  • Experience leading in a SOC environment
