Defense Point Security is currently seeking an Incident Response Analyst in Washington, D.C., working at the client site M-F during normal business hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), security events and logs
  • Prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms
  • Advise incident responders in the steps to take to investigate and resolve computer security incidents
  • Create and track security investigations to resolution
  • Lead, perform or review security incident investigations
  • Compose security alert notifications and other communications
  • Stay up to date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures
  • Develop follow-up action plans to resolve reportable issues, and communicate with the other technologists to address security threats and incidents
  • Define and create privacy and security reportable issues metrics and reports
  • Participate in other activities relating to security and privacy incident management
  • Work collaboratively with internal client stakeholders by facilitating the assessment of systems and developing reports for client leadership
  • Lead team of security analysts in conducting security impact assessments for client change requests and inform the Change Control Board of identified risks
  • Improve security posture by conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; study architecture/platform; identify integration issues; develop policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to security strategy and overall security posture by identifying security gaps, evaluate and implement enhancements

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing in Federal government IT environments
  • Strong expertise of log and monitoring management systems, security event monitoring systems, network-based and host-based intrusion detection systems, firewall technologies, malware detection and enterprise-level antivirus solutions/systems, VPN technologies and encryptions standards
  • Experience identifying, responding to, and reporting cybersecurity incidents
  • Strong understanding of OMB and FISMA mandates surrounding Information Security
  • Strong understanding of Network, Platform and Application Layer Security implementations
  • GCIH, CEH or similar industry certification

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with various network and host-based security applications and tools, such as network and host assessment/scanning tools, network and host based intrusion detection systems, and other security software packages
  • Digital Media Analysis (DMA) and prior computer forensics experience strongly desired, but not required
  • Experience leading in a SOC environment
