Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Cyber SOC (Security Operations Center) Manager for an opening in San Antonio, TX. 

Cyber SOC Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a large team of analysts responsible for multi-tenant MDR SOC
  • Develop and maintain the SOC personnel shift schedules
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the SOC team
  • Responsible for SOC strategy, incident monitoring, detection, analysis, and incident handling
  • Perform Security Incident Management aligned with NIST, DoD or DHS standards
  • Oversight, monitoring and tuning of security systems, including the following: Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems; Endpoint Security Systems; Security Information and Event Management Systems; Web Proxy Systems; Log Management Systems; Firewall Systems; Full Packet Capture Systems; Data Loss Prevention Systems; Object Level Auditing Systems; Endpoint Forensics; Wireless LAN Monitoring Systems; Database Security Monitoring; Compliance & Threat Modeling Systems
  • Manage consistent daily, weekly and event-based reporting, and manage knowledge base for sharing and transfer of experience
  • Develop and administer security policies, procedures, Run Book and Incident Management Plans and review their application to ensure that SOC's controls, policies, and procedures are operating effectively
  • Provide management oversight for the identification, triage and response of events or incidents of apparent security breaches
  • Produce and review aggregated performance metrics
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the SOC, through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions
  • Verify deployment and maintenance of security sensors and tools
  • Play a significant role in long-term SOC strategy and planning, including initiatives geared toward operational excellence

Cyber SOC Manager Job Requirements:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligations.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 10+ years of IT expereince
  • 5+ years managing large (15+ person) technical SOC teams
  • 5+ years of cyber security experience related to the job responsibilities
  • 2+ years managing remote technical employees
  • 2+ years customer facing experience delivering technical reports and assessments
  • CISSP or CISM certification
  • Experience with federal security to support a security operations center for a federal agency
  • Experience operating a team using ITIL service management standards, including managing a catalog of services and measuring performance
