Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Security Control Assessor in Washington, DC.

Security Control Assessor Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the government ISSO to jointly review scan results for classification and prioritization prior to assigning POA&M(s).
  • Provide Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) management and reporting resulting from the vulnerability analysis activities.
  • Manage the POA&M remediation efforts and provide recommended milestones and artifacts to the government ISSO for review and acceptance. The government ISSO manages the EPA remediation efforts.
  • Provide Technical Peer and Quality Assurance review of the vulnerability scan reports, POA&M reports, and remediation artifacts.
  • Provide weekly status reports to the government ISSO in a format consistent with security repository system, reporting requirements to enable the government ISSO to provide ongoing POA&M reporting within the agency.
  • Assist with the security repository system, when requested, which includes running reports, updating or entering data or confirming and uploading artifacts to complete existing POA&Ms.
  • Provide quality assurance checks monthly or as requested.

Security Control Assessor Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligations.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4 years' experience in IT security, including A&A and/or IT security risk analysis/advice, preferably in support of the Federal government.
  • Working knowledge of FISMA controls with the ability to develop and document controls.
  • Past experience with large federal agency ATO process.
  • Knowledge of Federal Government A&A practices and policies; FISMA, NIST SP 800-503.
  • Working knowledge of Ongoing Authorization with in the NIST Framework.
  • Experience vulnerability assessment scanning tools and reporting, such as NESSUS, ACAS.
