Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Security Engineer in North Charleston, SC with an active Secret security clearance.

Security Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Vulnerability scanning, vulnerability scanning infrastructure support, vulnerability analysis, scan analysis and troubleshooting in support of the DoD scanning requirements including USCYBERCOM TASKORD 13-0670 and associated Fragmented Orders (FRAGOs). Responsible for routine vulnerability scanning using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), analyzing vulnerability scanning activities, and maintaining associated and managed enterprise ACAS infrastructures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive vulnerability management program to rapidly identify and respond to vulnerabilities based on threat and mission operations. Ensures the capability to receive threat, vulnerability, and attack notifications; and take directed corrective actions to mitigate potential vulnerabilities or threats in accordance with CJCSM 6510.02. Implement and maintain a vulnerability management program and processes to proactively identify DoD IT vulnerabilities and take appropriate actions to mitigate and remediate any identified vulnerabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and add features to custom-developed applications; A relational database that collects and associates multiple CND Tool Data sources as well as manual input and provides a Web-based user-interface for asset, platform, program, and CND tool information, graphical displays, and report generation, And a custom-developed Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool used by CND analysts and incident responders to correlate, track, create tickets, investigate, and analyze cyber events and alerts.
  • Develop custom HBSS signatures, modules, and CND incident response applications capable of being deployed via HBSS in conjunction with continually changing and newly released cyber threat and intelligence reports.
  • Develop and sustain an Insider Threat program by employing risk management principles tailored to meet distinct needs, mission, and systems while ensuring and including appropriate protections for privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. The Insider Threat program shall deter, detect, and mitigate Insider Threats by leveraging counterintelligence, security, information assurance, and other relevant functions and resources to identify and counter Insider Threats.
  • Support the collaborative interaction between the National Security Agency (NSA) Certified Red Team by utilizing a Persistent Penetration Testing network.

Security Engineer Job Qualifications:

  • Position requires U.S. Citizenship due to Federal contractual obligation
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • 3 years of overall IT experience
  • 3 years of experience directly supporting Computer Network Defense (CND), Information Assurance (IA) or Information Security (IS).
  • DOD approved 8570 certifications required or must be obtained within the first six months
  • Experience supporting a vulnerability management program including performing vulnerability assessments, interpreting results, verifying false positives and maintaining the scan infrastructure
  • Experience with several security technologies including:
  • McAfee ePO/Host Based Security System (HBSS)
  • DOD ACAS/Tenable Nessus & SecurityCenter
  • SIEM technologies such as Splunk, ArcSight, etc.
  • Ability to present and document complex technical risks or concepts into concise terms for briefing of project management or senior executives
