DPS is currently seeking a candidate to fulfill a role as a Splunk Engineer in Washington D.C.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the client's Security Operations Center to assist in monitoring and analysis of potential threat activity.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support and operate Splunk using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) or Security Event Management (SEM) best practices and Splunk Enterprise Security.
  • Customize/fine-tune Enterprise Security SIEM log management solution and develop automation for security tools management, as well as aid in the automation, deployment, integration, and testing of enterprise systems and services and create/optimize big data correlations as a Splunk search language (SPL) expert.
  • Be responsible for designing Splunk systems to meet growth while maintaining a balance between performance, stability, and agility.

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation
  • 7 years of hands-on experience working in the IT industry with an emphasis in engineering design, system analytics, operations and maintenance for a variety of technologies
  • 3 years of experience with the Enterprise Security Administration module and advanced knowledge about Splunk architecture
  • Splunk Certified Enterprise Admin and/or Architect
  • Currently, hold, or have the ability to obtain, Splunk Accredited Consultant (formally Splunk Certified Consultant I)
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms
  • Security Information Event Management (SIEM) experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Security+, Network+, CISSP or other related certifications
  • Hands on experience with Security Tools such as IDS/IPS, Anti-virus, Endpoint Management
  • Hands on experience with Virtualization Technology such as VMWare or Virtualbox
  • Hands on experience with Storage Technology such as NetApp or EMC
  • Scripting/Programming experience in Python, Perl, Powershell or Bash
  • Three tiered application model
  • Firewalls and internet proxy devices
  • Security monitoring practices
  • Unix shell environments
  • Security signature generation methods and techniques
  • Event flows (i.e. Syslog)
  • Log management tools (i.e. Splunk)
  • Vulnerability assessment tools
  • Network analysis/sniffer tools
  • Patch management tools
  • Anti-Virus (i.e. Mcafee ePO HBSS / Symantec SEP)
  • Experience working in a large government or corporate enterprise environment
