Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer in Ft. Belvoir, VA with an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the customer's Enterprise Security Solution Engineering Program
  • Provide source monitoring activities, cyber threat analysis and mitigation courses of action
  • Provide the actionable intelligence used in organizational IT asset protection, strategic cyber threat trending and situational awareness of customer leadership
  • Conduct research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems
  • Ensure systems comply with requirements and IA standards
  • Verify/validate systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information systems
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure applicability to the current system and requirements traceability
  • Produce papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for the government
  • Automate and streamline repetitive IT security processes, and the handling of vast amounts of security data. At the discretion of the customer, using programming/scripting and the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) framework to consolidate security information and reporting
  • Attend meetings, design reviews, engineering conference calls, system readiness reviews, and participate in Integrated Planning Teams (IPTs) and/or Agile Sprints/Increments to monitor security requirement execution throughout the customer's Systems Life Cycle (SDLC) process and deliver minutes, and any ad-hoc project reporting requested by the customer
  • Implement, support, and write filters, plugins, access control lists, and monitoring rules for new and existing continuous monitoring security products, such as, but not limited to: Tenable SecurityCenter, McAfee EPO, DbProtect, Splunk, ArcSight, CISCO ISE, IDS, IOS, and Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, Xceedium, NetWitness, HP WebInspect and Fortify, etc
  • Identify and evaluate information security threat models and methodologies. Manage the implementation and maintenance of the selected methodologies by applying the threat model to support ongoing, proactive protection of the customer's enterprise environment, and to facilitate an efficient response to security incidents
  • Develop standards, templates and automated mechanisms to support threat modeling and analysis of customer's information systems and information

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Engineering, or other comparable degree or experience
  • Requires one of the following Certs: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSC
  • An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • 5 years of experience in IT security, and 3 years of specialized experience in implementing enterprise security products and solutions
  • Skilled in Cyber Warfare techniques, methods, and processes
  • Experience detecting, monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats
  • Familiarity with CJCSM 6510.01B
  • The ideal candidate should be able to multitask and give equal attention to a variety of functions while under pressure
  • Must be able to understand and present complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
