Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer in Ft. Belvoir, VA with an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems
  • Ensure systems comply with requirements and IA standards
  • Verify/validate systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information networks
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure applicability to the current system and requirements traceability
  • Produce papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for the government
  • Perform enterprise wide strategic systems planning, business information planning, and analysis
  • Develop analytical and computational techniques and methodologies for problem solutions
  • Install, configure and maintain Linux Operating Systems, custom applications, and peripherals
  • Perform process and data modeling in support of the planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools
  • Apply reverse engineering and re-engineering disciplines to develop migration strategic and planning documents
  • Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools
  • Improve network and system security by maintaining a layered defense in depth architecture
  • Manage the tools used to provide continuous monitoring of FISMA security control set (i.e., Tenable Security Center and FireEye/EnCase, CDM tools)
  • Maintain enterprise-wide vulnerability and threat assessment tools to ensure that they are proficient at assessing the security posture of assets, to validate patch status on systems, support incident response, and to perform Internet and data leak detection
  • Ensure the trust zones between systems are enforced at the Trusted Internet Connection and data centers
  • Responsible for the expansion and improvement of the Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM) program with the adoption of tools
  • Support the vulnerability, configuration management, and platform assessment infrastructure to validate the security posture of systems

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligations
  • 4-6 years of experience with cyber security engineering, preferably in support of the Federal government
  • 3 years of hands on Linux experience
  • 3 years operating and maintaining Tenable Security Center
  • Experience creating and reviewing Splunk dashboards, queries and logs.
  • Well-versed in supporting various diagnostic tools for network scanning, web application scanning, vulnerability scanning, and database scanning technologies
    *Requires one of the following certs: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • DoD 8570 Certification
  • Familiar with Cyber Warfare techniques, methods, and processes
    *Experience detecting, monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats
    *Familiarity with CJCSM 6510.01B
  • Desired Linux+ or RedHat Certification
  • Desired CyberArk, and/or CounterAct experience
  • Familiar with federal security initiatives, e.g., FISMA, OMB memos, NIST Cyber Security Framework and DHS/US-CERT CDM
