Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Cyber Security Analyst in Washington, DC.

Cyber Security Analyst Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Cyber Security training program (initial awareness, annual refresher, and specialized) is completed by required employees and contractors
  • Review user accounts routinely to ensure compliancy with Cyber security requirements. Follows-up with users and Help Desk (TTS User Services) as needed to keep accounts active
  • Supporting the Cyber security incident reporting process
  • Perform triage on reported emails. Classify as spam or phishing and execute steps as documented within the Cyber security incident handling procedures
  • Configure firewall to block malicious URLs based on emails reported
  • Ensure security tools (e.g. McAfee, FireEye, Splunk) are deployed on all necessary/relevant components (servers, workstations). Perform audits of security endpoints on machines prior to deployment and verify functioning of these toolsets on a continuous basis
  • Assist TTS-IS in pilot efforts and proof-of-concept implementations to determine feasibility and effectiveness of new security tools within the environment

Cyber Security Analyst Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal contractual obligations
  • bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or equivalent degree
  • 2 years of progressive Cyber security experience at a similarly complex organization
  • Possesses strong qualifications in information technology
  • One or more certifications Security+, SSCP, CEH

Cyber Security Analyst Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Cyber security principles, concepts, and methods
  • Demonstrates analytical ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • Highly skilled in problem solving
  • Demonstrates effective communications skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of government and industry laws, standards, and regulations for Cyber security (i.e., SANS Top 20 critical controls, etc.)
  • Knowledge of, and skill in applying, Cyber security principles, methods, and tools (e.g., Nessus, NMap, CyberArk, etc.) to IT systems involving hardware, software and communications
  • Demonstrates ability to stay current with evolving technology in Cyber security, e.g., network and wireless connectivity, remote access techniques, network analyzers, firewalls, patch management and software distribution tools (e.g., LanDesk, Casper, etc.)
  • Demonstrates technical experience to include experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration
