Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Malware Reverse Engineer in Ft. Belvoir, VA with an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Reverse Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Support a malware reverse engineering team focused on identifying attack vector, payload, and related damage and data exfiltration on collected media
  • Use expertise in malware reverse engineering to analyze and evaluate complex code through use of tools such as dissemblers, debuggers, hex editors, unpackers and network sniffers.
  • Develop formal reports cataloging findings and provide identified TTPs so that information can be leveraged by the defensive operations and threat intelligence teams
  • Support dead-box forensic analysis and live forensic/incident handling analysis, as required, to include collection, preservation, and transfer forensic evidence of unauthorized access on trusted networks
  • Develop and maintain malware analysis artifacts, reports, case notes, and all case related data, and ensure information is properly stored within the infrastructure

Reverse Engineer Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal contractual obligations
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or other related field; or 3-6+ years with a MA/MS or 11-14+ years without a degree
  • 5 years of overall experience in software development
  • 2 years performing reverse engineering
  • Experience working with reverse engineering tools such as IDA
  • Skilled in more than one programming language (e.g. C/C++, Java, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Python) and knowledgeable in Agile development approaches.
  • Experience with developing software to operate for both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to work independently or in project teams; designing, developing, and deploying solutions, and to deliver projects on time with minimal direction
  • Certs: Certs: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security +, SSCP

Reverse Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Reverse Engineering Analyst (CREA), GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), or related certification
  • Proficiency with C/C++, Python programming languages
  • Experience working with open source applications and tools
  • Clearance: DoD Top Secret SCI CI Poly
