Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Senior Splunk Professional Services Consultant who will serve as a Splunk Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing planning and delivery support to DPS customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer support for Splunk deployments which may include engineering, implementation and migration within the customer's environment
  • Provide planning and delivery support to DPS customers
  • Work closely with both customer and Splunk points of contact to ensure the provided solution meets or exceeds customer's expectations
  • Lead assigned engagements, but will report to their practice Team Lead and Delivery Manager for scheduling, day-to-day operations, technical support as needed, and training.
  • Ability to translate high level needs to requirements
  • Architecting new Splunk Deployment, as well as providing recommendations for re-architecting based on needs of existing environment
  • Upgrading Core Splunk
  • Onboarding of Data (mapped to CIM Data Model, where applicable)
  • Monitoring of Splunk performance / tuning where applicable
  • Implementation of Splunk, utilizing best practices
  • Creation, updating, and customization of Applications, Technical Addons, and Supporting Addons
  • Clear and concise documentation and diagrams of deployments
  • Ports and Protocols
  • SSL Configurations
  • Network / Deployment Diagrams
  • Pass4SymmKey / Passwords in a safe, controlled manner
  • Schedule and lead project kick off call with customer prior to project start
  • Provide project deliverables to both DPS and customer teams in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines
  • Refer follow-on or new sales opportunities to internal DPS support team
  • Maintain Splunk certifications and complete relevant industry training as needed and supported by DPS

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal contractual obligations
  • Travel (60 - 70%) to customer sites deploying Splunk solutions
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5 Years in Security Engineering
  • 3 Years with Splunk
  • Familiarity with Clustering (Indexing, Multi-Site Indexing, and Search Head)
  • Understanding of enterprise scale Client-Server architecture
  • Programming / Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Experience with Automation (Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet)
  • Experience with Virtualization
  • Understanding of Enterprise Scale Networking (Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routing/Switching)
  • Strong experience operating in Unix/Linux environments
  • Proficient with managing and provisioning storage (RAID, LVM, etc)
  • Strong Understanding of init.d / systemd
  • SELinux / AppArmour experience
  • TCP/IP Configuration
  • Package Management
  • Strong experience dealing with RESTful APIs
  • Must hold Splunk Accredited Consultant or CORE Implementation (Previously SCCII)
  • Experience with supporting both physical and virtual machines and appliances
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work on a team or operate independently as the sole engineer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong motivation for learning new things

Preferred Skills:

  • Active Secret level Security Clearance
  • Experience supporting both federal and commercial customers
  • Experience with Splunk Premium products (ITSI, Enterprise Security, UBA)
  • Experience with Cloud Environments (Azure, AWS, OpenStack, Kubernetes, etc)
  • Experience with tools like Vagrant, Terraform, Git, Syslog, SNMP
  • Security Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or equivalent
  • Familiar with enterprise Antivirus, IDS/IPS, and Vulnerability Scanning software
