Defense Point Security is currently seeking a Senior Security Engineer in Bethesda, MD

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback to design engineers and evaluates end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
  • Conducts research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems.
  • Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods.
  • Verifies/validates systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information networks.
  • Prepares assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and analysis. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements.
  • Reviews design and implementation plans/procedures and ensures they verify/validate the requirements.
  • Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing requirements. Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government intelligence and operations officials.
  • Design and implement customized solutions to meet specific customer goals and develop enhancements to the existing suite of cyber security tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to our Federal contractual obligations.
  • BA/BS degree in Cyber Security Management, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Math, Business or other related field, or 4 or more years of recent experience in enterprise cyber security architecture and engineering.
  • 7 years of experience in Cyber IT 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks while overseeing junior team members.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Security Architecture & Engineering Principles and best practices within a Federal environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of IT Security Operations Principles and best practices within a Federal environment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Risk Assessments (Security Impact) within a Change Management Board.
  • Experience advising, developing and implementing an Enterprise Security Architecture and CONOPS within a Federal environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Network Security Principles and best practices with a Federal environment
  • Understanding of the common cyber security tool stack such as Splunk, EnCase, Nessus, McAfee Endpoint Security, and FireEye, how they function and where they fit in an enterprise security architecture.
  • Understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), specifically demonstrated experience implementing and deploying systems under the Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience installing, configuring and using the common cyber security tool stack such as Splunk, EnCase, Nessus, McAfee Endpoint Security, and FireEye
  • Relevant industry certifications - IASAE II: CISSP (or Associate), CASP CE, CSSLP
  • Experience with the patch management processes and tools (e.g. Big Fix).
  • Experience with IT Process Optimization, Development and Implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with Network devices (i.e. firewalls, routers, or antivirus appliances)
